Hi! I'm Ashley Coulter, Licensed Clinical Social Worker and owner of Authentic & intentional minds, PLLC.
I received my Bachelor’s in Social Work at Clark Atlanta University, where the curriculum extensively focused on cultural competency in social work practice. Such training has guided my practice in providing effective, culturally competent support for diverse groups including sexual orientation, gender identity, spirituality, and ethnicity.
I went on to attend The University of Texas at Austin to receive my Masters of Science in Social Work focusing on mental health, specifically attachment, psychosis, and cooccurring disorders.
I have practiced psychotherapy and advocacy in many professional settings including medical, legal aid, criminal justice, and private practice. I have worked with individuals struggling with chemical dependency, emotional regulation, chronic pain, and severe mental health symptoms such as psychosis.
I work from a person centered approach by meeting my clients where they are in life with compassion and empathy. I utilize therapeutic techniques such as Trauma Focused CBT, skills training, and Solution Focused Therapy.
I believe the journey to finding oneself is life long. We constantly change and evolve, and if we aren't mindful we may begin to deviate from our authentic selves, which increases anxiety and loss of identity. Due to cultural assimilation, depending on our environment we may show up different versions of ourselves, but at the core you are still you.
In my personal journey I have found peace in setting intentions. When feeling lost I allow myself to be present in the moment, and doing just that is intentional.
AIM is an acronym for Authentic & Intentional Minds, and it has its own meaning. My goal is to help my clients AIM for what they truly want, and shed the expectations and burdens that others have placed on them to truly live a fulfilling authentic and intentional life.
